VUMA - Fire

BBE personnel visited the United States of America in mid 2006 for discussions with the National Institute of Safety and Health [NIOSH]. The aim of the visit was to promote a joint initiative between BBE and NIOSH to develop a mine fire simulator that can be incorporated in VUMA-network. VUMA-network already has the capability to track combustion products from a fire, but VUMA-fire will simulate airflow behavior influenced by the heat from the fire. Development of VUMA-fire is in the research phase and development will commence shortly. NIOSH has already proved themselves as leaders in fire modeling research and by combining their expertise with the robustness and deep, hot mine proficiency of VUMA-network, VUMA-fire will be the frontier of a new generation of network simulation software.
